Interactive White-Boards
o Beaumont Primary School: some whiteboards touch-screen, some pen-based.
o All interactive.
o Can use finger instead of pen.
o About half all primary schools have interactive white boards
o Most will have them soon enough.
E-Beam:
o Cheap.
o Uses projector.
o Pen movements tracked by sensors pointed at board.
o Can write on it– this makes it popular with teachers.
Promethean:
o More expensive.
o Also pen-based, similar to e-beam but cannot write on it.
o Comes with “resources” like games, etc.
o We should look into this a bit more, it could be a business model – sell to Promethean?
IQ Board:
o Touchscreen
Bun go Barr interactive white-board game
o Interactive white-board-based game
o Used during normal teaching time, not just Golden Hour
o Based on series of storybooks of same name which are also in the classroom.
o Drag correct missing words on screen from a “words” area into the missing part of the sentence
o Just uses static background images, taken from the book
o No levels, no competition, no motion graphiocs, coujld do with some sprucing up!
o 20-30 mins a day spent on this ‘game’
o Sounds boring (editor’s note)
Curriculum
o Fiona can get us a copy of her Scheme of Work
o this is what they base their teaching on, not the curriculum really.
Characters Kids Are Into
o Sponge Bob
o Justin Bieber
o Mario
o I-Carley
o Moshie Monsters
Must be male characters!

o BBC have some interactive stuff for learning other languages. We should into it.
o General thumbs up to the idea!
o Something with good graphics, a good character and a bit of fun would go down well.
o Kids hate books and love an excuse to use the white-board
